Kira Houston is an artist and writer based in Asheville, NC. He obtained his BA in 2023 from Clark University, double majoring in Art History and Spanish with a minor in Creative Writing. Kira works as Outreach Manager at Black Mountain College Museum + Arts Center and is Production Editor for the Journal of Black Mountain College Studies.


Since 2017, Kira has advocated passionately for the transgender community. Kira was previously seasonal staff with the Safe Schools Program for LGBTQ Students, served as an elected member of the Massachusetts Commission on LGBTQ Youth, and has contributed to initiatives at UMass Memorial Medical Center, Boston Children's Hospital, and Harvard University.
